Through the study of Mathematics, students develop the ability to think creatively, critically, strategically, and logically. They learn to structure and organise, to carry out procedures flexibly and accurately, to process and communicate information, and to enjoy intellectual challenge.

The Mathematics department offers Mathematics courses for year 9 -13 students at level 4 – 8 of the New Zealand Curriculum.  There are differentiated courses to cater for differing abilities and needs and each year level.  Able students may be placed on an accelerated programme which culminates in Scholarship Calculus and Scholarship Statistics in year 13.  Students who have difficulty may be placed in an alternative course to allow extra support and assistance.

The Mathematics department offers digital classes where IT is used as a tool in enquiry and student directed learning.  Teaching is enhanced in all Mathematics classrooms by the use of interactive whiteboards.
