Electronics Technology

Electronics technology is a creative activity aimed at meeting needs and opportunities through the development of electronic products or systems.  Knowledge, skills and resources are combined to solve real-world practical problems.  It requires planning, design, justification of decisions, experimentation, team-work and the efficient and effective management of resources.  The course is based in the electronics classroom and has an emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and practical exercises.

Skills

  • Investigation, use and understanding of existing technological products and systems
  • Identifying and exploring needs and opportunities
  • Choice and use of suitable materials, tools and equipment
  • Design of technological solutions and evaluation of these solutions with a view to improvement and/or modification
  • Modeling and creating circuits through computer simulations and prototype boards

Typical outcomes
Designing and making projects based around:

  • Alarms
  • Sensor systems
  • Control systems such as robotics
