Technology Metal

Metal Technology is a stimulating and demanding course where students have the opportunity to work through a technological process specifically designing and making projects in, and using engineering materials as the main medium.

Students investigate and identify problems within their own environment. Then using their creativity they will design and then build a technological product that will help solve the problem identified. (The development and application of related knowledge in tools, materials and processes that specifically relate to the engineering environment will be taught).

Skills
The development of:

  • Practical skills through the selection and use of engineering hand tools and machines
  • Safe workshop practices and conduct
  • Design and problem-solving skills
  • Evaluation and reflection on testing and final project outcomes

Typical outcomes
Designing and making projects based around:

  • Furniture – seating and stools
  • Storage
  • Transportation – mini motor bikes, go carts
  • Environmental and recreational activities such as a weather vane and fishing reel
