Become a homestay host

International students come to New Plymouth Boys’ High School for a variety of reasons, the main one being to complete their education and improve their English. Placement in a warm and welcoming homestay will assist them with this. It will also help students to experience our ‘kiwi’ way of life and assist them to navigate their way through new experiences. Students may require either a full-time homestay for the duration of their stay in NZ or homestay accommodation for term-break holidays if they reside in the boarding hostel during the school term.

To become registered as a Homestay Host for international students at New Plymouth Boys’ High School, you will be required to:

  1. complete a questionnaire (which will assist us in matching the home and student);
  2. submit a police check (for all those at the homestay address 18 years and over);
  3. have a house visit and family interview.

Should you meet all necessary requirements, we will then include your family in our database. When we have a student who requires accommodation, we will contact you and together ascertain compatibility between both parties. Please note; being registered as a homestay with our school does not guarantee a student placement.
