Measles information for schools

16 August, 2019 The Taranaki Public Health Unit has confirmed a second case of measles in Taranaki this week, and is warning teachers and parents to be aware of the signs and symptoms. Measles spreads easily via coughing and sneezing. Symptoms include a high fever along with a runny nose, hacking cough, sore red eyes, followed by a rash three to five days later which starts on the head and spreads down the body. On Monday, 5th August, the Deputy Commissioner of NZ Police, Mr Wallace Haumaha came to NPBHS and presented year 11 student, Robbie White with his national award. Robbie won the Race Unity Speech Awards National Final. The boys responded by showing their respect to Robbie - something he will cherish for the rest of his life. What a reflection of race unity! Loves-Me-Not Programme for Year 12 students

On Monday, 24 June (week 9 of this term) the Year 12 students will be in attending the ‘Loves-Me-Not’ programme run by the school, in conjunction with New Plymouth Girls’ High School and the Police. An outstanding result yesterday for both 1st XV Rugby and 1st XI Football teams winning their games against Francis Douglas Memorial College. 1st XI FootballAfter a goal-less first half, the game sprung into life in the second when substitute Olie Scott jumped with the keep from a well worked cross to score the opener.
