Cross-Country is a winter sport with a team of boys selected from Year 9 through to 13. Boys train as a squad twice a week after school and are expected to do additional fitness work to this.
Many of the boys are involved in other winter codes. All of the competitions are team-based so cross-country is not just for the elite runners.
There are five main events on the schools cross-country calendar. The school event is held in April, along with our exchange with Auckland Grammar early in Term 2. This is followed closely by the Taranaki championships and the Super 8 competition. Towards the end of June the nationals are held. The school also competes in the Wanganui and Taranaki Road Relays held during the 3rd term as well as a selection of local events.
