Painting

The visual arts are about giving form to ideas and expressions for the purpose of engaging and interacting with yourself and others.

Painting is an age old means of expressing yourself, and of communicating your ideas to others. Painting is a record of the way our ancestors lived and thought. It gives us a view on their world, their fears and hopes.

It is also a link to our friends and those around us.

It is a record for us to leave and to talk to the future.

The Art Department aims to create an environment  where students find out about the world in an expressive way. In order for this to happen, you are taught to draw. Drawing is a means of planning, recording,  assessing, and recreating the world around us from our point of view. In appreciating an artwork,  you are appreciating someone’s point of view. In making one, you are offering your view to others.
