Junior Diploma:

Subject Assessment Points These are calculated from assignments/tests/exams 160 points
Engagement Points These are calculated from a student’s engagement report  40 points
TOTAL POINTS – for a year   200 points

To gain an endorsement with Excellence a student will need to gain >80% of the available credits

To gain an endorsement with Merit a student will need to gain 60% of the available credits

To gain an endorsement with Achieved a student will need to gain 45% of the available credits

Calculating the subject assessment points:

Each subject area will have a number of assignment/tests/exams worth points, normally 4 points or 8 points.

A full-year course, like English, is worth 24 points.

Points will be allocated for each assessment, using the following formula:

100% of the point value if the assessment is gained with Excellence

75% of the point value if the assessment is gained with Merit

50% of the point value if the assessment is gained with Achieved

25% of the point value if the assessment is Not Achieved

0% of the point value if the student did not make an attempt

For example:

An English assessment on formal writing is worth 8 points. The student will be awarded:

8 points if they gained the assessment with Excellence

6 points if they gained the assessment with Merit

4 points if they gained the assessment with Achieved

2 points if they gained the with Not Achieved

0 points if they did not make an attempt

Engagement points – calculation

40 points will be awarded based on the engagement report (10 points will be awarded each term).

The points will be given based on the total engagement percentage divided by 10.
