Mr Jamie Stones
Director of Boarding
Jamie is an Old Boy of the school and the hostel (05-09). He has been teaching Physical Education and Health at NPBHS since 2017 and has served as Hostel Master and Head of Moyes House since 2019. Jamie assumed the role of Director of Boarding in term 4 of 2023.
Mr Stones is also the Director of Hockey and has been coaching the 1st XI hockey team since 2015.
Jamie's responsibilities include the overall management, promotion, and future planning of the hostel, as well as overseeing the discipline, welfare, social and academic progress of the boarders, and the day-to-day running of Hatherly House.
He is actively involved in boarding at New Plymouth Boys High School. Jamie is joined in Hatherly House by his wife, Jess, and their two sons, Fergus and Eddie.
Head of Moyes House
Mr Leighton Price
Head of Moyes House
Leighton is an Old Boy of the school and hostel (03-07) as well as an ex-Head Boy in 2007. He has been a hostel master since 2021 and is the current Head of Moyes House. Leighton teaches metalwork and is heavily involved in the school's junior rugby program. As an ex-professional rugby player, he continues his love for the game by coaching the Under 15A team at NPBHS.
Leighton is in charge of the pastoral care of all boys within Moyes House and is joined in Hatherly House by his partner Emma and daughter Evie.
Head of Niger House
Mr Noho Robinson
Head of Niger House
Noho is an Old Boy of the school and hostel (1994). He has been a hostel master since 2019 and is the current head of Niger House. Noho works in the Te Haumaru faculty at the school. A sports fanatic, he actively encourages our hostel residents to engage in sports. He serves as one of the coaches for the U15A rugby team and also coaches our Hatherly XI cricket team.
In addition to his sports involvement, Noho is responsible for overseeing all of our Year 12 boys in Niger House. He actively contributes to our leadership and mentoring program, supporting potential leaders within the hostel community.
Head of Carrington House
Mr Liam Younger
Head of Carrington House
Liam is an Old Boy of the school and hostel (12-16), having served as the Head Boarder in 2016. Since 2021, he has taken on the role of Hostel Master and currently serves as the Head of Carrington House.
Within the school, Liam holds the position of Head Faculty - Health and Physical Education and serves as the strength and conditioning coach for the rugby programme.
In Carrington House, Liam is responsible for the pastoral care of all boys. Additionally, he oversees the mentoring and leadership programme, collaborating with Prefects and identifying potential leaders among Year 12 students.
Liam shares Hatherly House with his partner, Maddi.

Mr Josh Angell
House Master
Josh has been an English teacher at NPBHS since 2021, bringing with him experience from teaching overseas in England and at Remuera Primary and Howick Intermediate schools in Auckland. Since 2023, he has taken on the role of Hostel Master.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Josh is a distinguished NZ Touch representative and is set to participate in the upcoming Touch World Cup in England. He actively contributes to our school's touch program and serves as the coach for the NPBHS 2nd XV rugby team.
House Master
Mr Brad Bennett
House Master
Brad is an Old Boy of the school (03-07) and has been a hostel master since 2019. As a physical education teacher, he has actively participated in coaching and managing numerous sports during his tenure at NPBHS. Currently, Brad is deeply involved in our school's rugby programme.
In addition to his teaching and coaching responsibilities, Brad oversees the induction and mentoring programme for our Year 9 students in the hostel. He shares his life in the hostel with his wife, Lauren, and their sons, Benji and Oscar.

Mr Julius Prasad
House Master
Julius has been teaching Science, specializing in Physics at NPBHS since 1999, and he has served as a hostel master since 2017. Apart from his academic role, Julius is a national dance champion, actively contributing to the hostel's cultural pursuits during house events.
His primary responsibility within the hostel involves tracking academic success and developing plans to help students achieve their academic goals. Julius is joined in the hostel by his partner, Henriette.

Mr Clark-Puia

We're pleased to announce that Thomas Clark-Puia will be joining our hostel master team at the start of Term 2. Another former resident of the hostel, Thomas served as head boarder in 2012 and was awarded a New Zealand Academic Scholarship. After graduating from NPBHS, Thomas pursued higher education at Victoria University in Wellington before embarking on a career as an accountant with Fulton Hogan. Over the course of six years, he worked on various projects in New Zealand and Australia before transitioning to teaching in 2023. |
Thomas is currently in his first year at NPBHS, where he teaches mathematics, accounting, and is actively involved in coaching under-14 rugby as part of our rugby programme. With his diverse background in academia, sports coaching, leadership, and business, Thomas will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to our hostel master team. We're confident that all the boys will benefit from his expertise and enthusiasm.

Mr Hemi Coates

Hemi has been teaching Business Studies and Commerce at NPBHS since 2020, following his teaching experience in Whakatane and Hamilton. He recently joined the hostel at the beginning of 2024.
Beyond his role as an educator, Hemi is a talented musician and serves as one of the school's volleyball coaches. Additionally, he actively participates in our deaning system throughout the day school.
In Hatherly House, Hemi is accompanied by his wife, Nikki, and their three daughters, Harper, Thomasin, and Tilly.
