The school's surfing programme is open to students in Years 9-13, with training sessions held twice a week in the school gym. The wider squad practices on Mondays and Wednesdays during lunchtime, while the Top 10 surfers engage in additional sessions traveling down the coast. The Top 10 surfers participate in three main events throughout the year, including the TSSSA surfing competition, an interschool exchange, and the National Schools' Competition.

Competition and Teams: There are three main events during the year for the Top 10 surfers spread across terms 1-3. These begin with the local TSSSA surfing competition, then an interschool exchange with Tauranga Boys’ College and Gisborne Boys’ High School and finally the National Schools’ Competition in Raglan.

Training: The wider squad trains twice a week on Monday and Wednesday during lunchtime in the school gym. This squad is then split for SCP with the Top 10 surfers travelling down the coast and the development squad surfing at Fitzroy Beach.


Uniform and Equipment: The students require their own equipment which must include a wetsuit suitable for surfing through the winter season and should be competent and confident in the water. 


Cost: Subs vary from year to year, and there is a cost for trips away.
